Holiday Traditions with love from us

happppppy.jpg

Thanksgiving has past and we are onto December Holiday plans, hard to believe. As we roll into this busy season, us  #waverlyeats gals will be sharing conversations, traditions and joyful moments over the next few weeks.

Brady Says...

Every since I started giving gifts for Christmas, they’ve been crafts and D.I.Y. They are so inexpensive and you can customize it as much as you want. When I started doing Waverley, about a year ago, I got really into DIY’s. My favorite YouTubor, Eva Gutowski would always make a DIY room Decor which inspired me to make it instead of buying it.

Baking is my favorite thing to do all year round. My favorite part is that each season there are specific flavors in recipes that seem to go amazing with each season. For example pumpkin and spice for fall which is my favorite season. Always since I was younger, I love to watch people bake and I still do. To see every precise move helps me learn more because in baking every thing has to be perfect yet, there are so many ways to do it. I love to watch new ways that could help me with my baking. My favorite thing to bake during the holidays is peppermint sugar cookies. Something that I would love to try to make is peppermint bark. Every year I tell my friends  they don’t have to give me gifts but they never listen ;). There is so much more joy in giving especially if it is a homemade gift! Check out Waverly insta this Friday as we make rainbow cake and peppermint bark! Two perfect homemade gifts for friends and family. x Brady

How to de-stress in this busy world...!

WHO IS LILAH FEAR?

Molly Wills and Lilah Fear met this past summer through mutual friends. It was an instant sisterhood-friendship-inspired-girl-power connection and thus the two immediately began to brain storm ways they could support each other, across the pond. OH WAIT, We forgot to mention, Lilah is from London, trains for skating in Canada & travels around the world for her professional skating competitions! YES. AMAZING. Lucky us? Lilah decided to write for our blog every once in an while; updating us on her cultural obsessions, struggles and just over all empowered observations on how to balance it all. Look out for Ms. Lilah on our blog, Insta. and Facebook!

HOW TO DE-STRESS IN THIS BUSY WORLD...

As we near the end of October, we are finally forced to loosen our tight grasp on the distant memories of summer that we have so desperately clung to for the last couple of months. The tank tops are replaced by turtlenecks, our sun-kissed cheeks become increasingly rosy, and pumpkin spiced lattes substitute iced teas. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore fall; the vibrant colors, the seemingly permanent scent of cinnamon that fills the air, and, of course, the highly anticipated build up to Christmas (is it too early to be excited?). When I think of fall, I marvel at all of these wonders, although I can’t help but notice how swiftly my schedule crowds and my stress levels rise. I am a busy girl, as I am sure most of you are, and I love it, although it can be incredibly overwhelming at times. I fill my time with numerous activities, ranging from singing, to working out, to learning languages and on top of that I am a competitive ice dancer so I wake up at 5am every day to train! I would never dream of removing any of these commitments from my schedule because they all make me very happy, however I have learned that it is essential for my energy levels (and sanity!) to make time in my crazy life to de-stress, regroup, and recharge before I tackle the next activity. I’m sure that all of you can relate to feeling overwhelmed when leading a busy life and you may or may not have some tips and tricks to help you relax in no time, but I thought I would provide a few of my secrets for speedy success:

  1. Bath time. Now this seems a little trivial because of course we all need to bathe (as I hope all of you already do!), however, you can either have a bath, or you can have an awesome bath, and I’m going to tell you how to do the latter. First and foremost, you need a fabulous bath bomb or bubble bath. I would recommend getting something from LUSH although I must warn you about their glittery bath bombs: you will continue to find that glitter behind your ears, between your fingers, and behind your knees for up to a week after using it so, unless you want to glitter for 7 days, I would recommend something slightly more subtle. You want to do everything possible to make this bathing experience wonderful and something that you look forward to, as simple as it may be. Choose a delicious scent or an exciting color to bathe in! Another tip, ambiance: make this 10 minute experience the most relaxing 10 minutes of your day by choosing the right lighting and music. Dim the lights, light a few candles and fire up that ‘chill out’ Spotify playlist to complete the mood. You can even throw on a face mask if you would like!

  2. Tea for two? I was raised in England so I may be biased on this subject but there is nothing a good cup of tea can’t solve, and it is much faster than a bath so it is perfect for a little rest stop in your busy day. Tea might sound boring, but you can really play around with the flavors, depending on your mood and whether or not you need to relax, energize, or satisfy your sweet tooth. My kitchen cupboard is fully stocked with a wide range of herbal tea, from Moroccan mint, to strawberry rhubarb parfait, to chocolate brownie (yes, this is a flavor of tea)! Try to avoid technology during your tea break; listen to music or read a book! Really use this time to unplug and give your brain and body a break!

  3. Take a hike (literally). If you are not physically exhausted, I would highly, highly recommend getting out into nature. This has been scientifically proven to significantly increase happiness levels and reduce stress. This can even be a quick walk in the park, but getting outside and that dose of fresh air can make all the difference in fixing your mood and clearing your mind.

  4. Sweat it out! I would say that exercise is the most important thing that you can do when you feel stressed, overwhelmed and upset. There have been days when I get home from school and I have never felt so mentally exhausted yet I have a pile of work to get through that night before the deadline the next day. My mom suggests I go for a run. How could I possibly have time to go for a run right now when I have all this work to do and feel like I could fall asleep from exhaustion? Well, it turns out that these runs that I have been sent on over the years have worked wonders by giving me an unimaginable boost in energy, clearing my mind, and making me happier (exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy!). This means that I then approach my work with a much better attitude and it turns out I am much more productive as a result. So, I can’t stress enough the importance of taking a little time out of your day, even if it is 5 minutes to run outside and do 10 jumping jacks, to get your blood pumping, as busy as you may be!

the COZY you?

When do you feel MOST beautiful?

This past weekend WaverlyEats was lucky enough to hang with Ainsley Britain, a girls girl media guru who embraces herself fully as well as everyone around her. Her energy is contagious and her wisdom, pure gold!

We all went around in a circle and shared when we feel most beautiful and most ourselves. The responses ranged from: having tea, dancing, laughing with friends, sweat pants and drawing. Take away? Do more of what makes you feel most like...YOU! Beauty is 1,000 percent when your happy girl inside reflects on the outside...Like feeling funny and lovely to your people by embracing your inner sporty spice by wearing sweats and no makeup. Like waking up extra early to make tea and read your book before the day gets started. Like carving out 10 extra minutes to take a relaxing, bath bomb bath before bed.

Personally, I feel most myself when I am wearing something sporty and after I run a lot of miles. I love to run. It makes me feel this awesome sense of freedom and physically and mentally strong. If I don't run during the week? Salty - > frosty -> no friends.

I want all of us to prioritize our most comfortable activities and feel good habits. Do more of what makes you feel beautiful on the inside and I promise by next Tuesday we will all be glowing on the outside; slightly less salty, more inspired and ideally realllllllly grateful!

XO, Molly

A Girl's Guide to balance...

Waverly Eats is all about the yummy, cozy conversations that take place in the kitchen when baking! Health. How do we balance a healthy lifestyle while still enjoying sprinkles, icing and ice cream? I think balance is super important. Baking is a passion for many of us and it's a beautiful, wonderful way to express love and experience joy! This past week a few of us girls brought up an important point; we have to be sure to fill our growing bodies with foods that make our minds sharp and bones strong. It doesn't mean that excluding sugar and sweets is the answer. Our bodies need sugar too just not everyday all the time. Just like chocolate chip cookies have their own recipe for greatness so do we. My recipe happens to be lots of water, 9 hours of sleep, a big dinner before 7 PM and littles meals during the day. Everyone is different. Everyone has their own recipe and figuring it out leads to a full, sweet life!

Lessons from Waverly Girls

What are a few things that make us smile? Baking? Sugar? Totally. Girlfriends all in one place getting creative and crafty around a table? YES.

Hi, my name is Molly and I am the crazy brain behind The Waverly Project concept. Being a gal that lives for creating things and DIY, my job pretty much makes me the happiest girl in the world. Every week I get to come up with creative concepts, share the creative concepts, talk with amazing girls, meet new amazing girls, listen to music, bake and make things! This column will be all about Waverly girls and what we talk about each week. It's an obvious thing that baking and sugar and candy makes us all smile. This blog will share stories that go beyond the icing on the cake! I am going to share how we encourage each other, what outrageous things we come up with while sitting around a table or what we as a community of girls plan to do to make our world a better place.

girls.JPG

This past Friday, WaverlyEATS girls did the usual; grab seats in the café, read through the Waverly Way, introduce new girls & dive in to the kitchen. I will set the stage, there were two groups of girlfriends attending this particular class. Before this WaverlyEATS the girls from the two groups ( and 2 different schools) did not no one another. One group of girls were slightly older than the other group of girls. Initially, the girls stuck to their tables and didn't really mix and mingle. Thank you Kelly Clarkson for making all 10 of us smile and truly feel cozy and comfortable with one another, singing at the top of our lungs, "SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE!!!" Smiling. Connecting. Being girls singing at the top of our lungs, being real, being ourselves. After that song played the entire vibe changed. The girls were going back and forth between the two tables, our ambassadors were making jokes with girls that were total strangers prior to Kelly Clarkson and ideas were being shared and heard. It was amazing. It was genuine and a refreshing hour to just be ourselves being girls who smile and create.
